We are pleased to announce that Will Garner, MD, will assume the role of Infectious Diseases Grand Rounds Faculty Preceptor, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Garner earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 2014. He completed his internal medicine residency training at Case Western Reserve University—University Hospitals of Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio in 2017, then served as Chief Resident for an additional year. Dr. Garner joined our ID Fellowship program in 2018, where he also served as Chief Fellow in his second year. After graduating from General ID Fellowship in 2020, Dr. Garner completed a Transplant ID Fellowship with us in 2021. He joined Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Florida, in 2021 serving as Associate Staff. In 2022, he was appointed Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship.
Dr. Garner rejoined the ID Division in 2023 as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He serves as a core faculty member in the ID Fellowship Program and as one the ID Division’s Transplant ID Faculty. He has demonstrated a deep commitment to trainee education and to the care of patients with immuno-compromising conditions, particularly those with hematological cancers. Dr. Garner assumes the role of ID Grand Rounds Faculty Preceptor from Ghady Haidar, MD, who has served in this position since July 2017. We welcome Dr. Garner into this role and are confident that he will excel in his new responsibilities.
