We are pleased to welcome Jake Smith, MD, to our Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program. Dr. Smith comes to us from the small town of Anson, Texas, where his journey in medicine began. After earning his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, he went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Dr. Smith’s passion for Infectious Diseases was ignited by the mentorship he received during his residency, leading him to pursue a career in this dynamic field. He is particularly interested in the antimicrobial stewardship track, aiming to make a significant impact on patient care through responsible antibiotic use.
When he’s not focused on medicine, Dr. Smith’s world revolves around his family. He and his wife Kris, who were high school sweethearts, are the proud parents of two young boys, ages 3 and 5. The family also includes a pug named Mia. Relocating to Pittsburgh has opened up a new world of activities for the Smith family, and they’ve already begun exploring the city’s family-friendly attractions, such as the Children’s Museum, the Carnegie science center, and the zoo. Dr. Smith is also looking forward to taking advantage of the area’s nearby camping and hiking opportunities.
We are excited to have Dr. Smith join our fellowship program and are confident that his dedication to family and medicine will make him a valuable asset to our team.
