We are pleased to announce that Matthew Culyba, MD, PhD, has been appointed Assistant Director for Translational Science Education in the University of Pittsburgh-Carnegie Mellon University Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the University of Pittburgh School of Medicine effective July 1, 2024.

The MSTP Program was established in 1983 to offer exceptionally talented individuals the opportunity to undertake a physician-scientist training program tailored to their specific research interests. This program is funded partly by the Medical Scientist Training Program of the National Institutes of Health.

In this new role as Assistant Director for Translational Science Education in the MSTP, Dr. Culyba will develop, oversee and instruct courses on translating preclinical discoveries into clinical application. He will work closely with Dr. Richard Steinman, Associate Dean for the MSTP at the University of Pittsburgh.

The mission of the MSTP is to prepare its students to become leading physician-scientists who will make discoveries that will significantly advance health and lower the burden of disease. The MSTP is committed to building the intellectual, interactive, goal-setting, and technical competencies of trainees.

Congratulations, Matt!
