The Infection Prevention team from UPMC Mercy, lead by Dr. Mohamed Yassin, MD, PhD absolutely crushed it at the APIC 2023 Annual Conference in Orlando, FL last month.
Mohamed was a coauthor for DS 37 – “Examining Endoscope Dryness Following Automated Reprocessing: A Stripped Endoscope Model,” a Poster recipient of the 2023 William A. Rutala Abstract Award. He was also a coauthor for the Poster ISR 66 – “Monitoring Operating Room(or) Traffic. Automated vs. Direct Observation,” and a coauthor for the Oral Abstracts: QAPI 22 – “Multidisciplinary Implementation of Published Surgical Site Infection Prevention Recommendations Is Associated with Improved Outcomes in Neurosurgical Patients” and ADS 02 – “How Does Blood Culture Collection Around the Time of Death Impact Mandated Reporting of Hospital Associated Infections?” He was also a co-presenter for the Lecture 3103 – “What’s in Your Endoscope? Ameliorations for Patient Safety.”
The Infection Prevention Team at Mercy, who worked very closely with Dr. Yassin, also partook in the lectures: 3210 – “Not the Creepy Crawlies!: A Scabies Investigation,” and 3104 – “Infection Prevention: An Academic Partnership”
Excellent work!
