Effective May 24, 2023, Dr. Rima Abdel-Massih has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and President of Infectious Disease Connect, Inc. (ID Connect) by its Board of Directors. The mission of ID Connect is to extend the Division’s expertise in infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection prevention to hospitals without access to such expertise. Rima co-founded ID Connect in 2019 and has served as the Chief Medical Officer for the past four years.
We are also pleased to announce that Rima has been appointed to the leadership role of Associate Chief of Remote Medicine and Education with the Division of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Abdel-Massih has been a member of the ID Division for the past 14 years and holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Medicine in the leadership track. She became our Fellowship Program Director in 2016 and rejuvenated the Program by focusing on individual fellow’s training needs and career goals, which is now known as the ”Individualized Training Curriculum”.
Dr. Abdel-Massih has an exemplary record of accomplishment as a visionary academic and entrepreneurial leader. Her achievements have greatly enhanced the clinical care missions of the ID Division and the Department of Medicine. She will continue to make important contributions to the academic environment at the University of Pittsburgh and care of patients at UPMC and beyond.
