The following Infectious Diseases Division members for their awards at the recent Department of Medicine Research Day:

Dr. Jasanjeet Jawanda received an award for Outstanding Poster Presentation on Resident / Clinical Fellows Night for her poster entitled, “Impact of Rapid Identification and Resistance Gene Detection using an Algorithm-based Approach in Gram-Negative Bacteremia.” Dr. Jawanda is being mentored by Dr. Ryan Shields.

Dr. Niyati Shah was selected as one of four Plenary Presenters for Research Day. Her presentation was entitled, “A Retrospective Analysis of Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Device Infections.” Dr. Shah is being mentored by Drs. Alex Viehman and Simi Padival.

Dr. Sergei Elber Dorozko and Mr. Nathan Wallace received an award for their poster entitled, “Bacteriophage Therapy for Antibiotic-Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infections in Patients at UPMC in 2022.” Dr. Elber Dorozko and Mr. Wallace are members of Dr. Daria Van Tyne’s laboratory.
