Suzanne Templer, DO, FACP, FIDSA, Receives Faculty Appointment


We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne “Suzi” Templer, DO, FACP, FIDSA, to the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. Suzi was awarded her DO degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2002. Following graduation, she spent one year completing an Osteopathic Rotating Internship at PCOM. Suzi transferred to Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) in Allentown, Pennsylvania to complete her Internal Medicine residency in 2006. She completed her Infectious Disease fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2008. Suzi returned to LVHN to join the Infectious Disease Division as an attending physician. She became involved in both graduate and undergraduate medical education. In 2012, Suzi joined the University of South Florida’s SELECT Program for which LVHN was the clerkship campus at the rank of Assistant Professor. She was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2018. Suzi relocated to Florida in May 2018 to become a Learning Community Mentor at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) where she was responsible for advising half of the inaugural classes, as well as developing the longitudinal Leadership and Wellness Thread. Suzi joined the University of Pittsburgh’s Infectious Diseases Division as a member of the General/Surgical and Tele-ID teams in June 2020. 

Suzi was appointed Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in the School of Medicine in January 2022. In this role, she oversees the academic coaching program, including the evaluation of coaches, enhancing the individual student academic portfolio system, and overseeing and fostering wellbeing within the School of Medicine. 

Suzi’s past experience as a dedicated clinician and educator have enhanced the institutions she has served. Her compassion and enthusiasm for medicine exemplifies her position as a role model for students, residents, fellows, and peers. Suzi continues to make important contributions as a clinician and educator and continues to enhance the academic environment at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC.
